Driver Job Qualifications

  • Must possess a Class A Commercial Driver License (CDL)
  • Must possess two years of recent verifiable experience, which can include military experience
  • Must possess acceptable motor vehicle record (MVR) based on hiring standards
  • Must be at least 23 years old
  • Must meet all Department of Transportation (DOT) regulatory requirements under section 391 of the Federal Motor Carriers (FMC) regulations
  • Owner-operator tractors must be in above average condition and have the ability to pass a Federal DOT vehicle inspection.

General Job Duties

  • Operate tractor-trailer combination
  • Perform daily pre-trip and safety inspections on equipment
  • Hook/unhook trailers
  • Verify and complete required documentation and reports
  • Maintain accurate daily logs
  • Communicate with dispatch as required
  • Demonstrate excellent customer service
  • Comply with all applicable laws/regulations, as well as company policies/procedures
  • Perform other duties as required

Owner-Operator Pay & Benefits

  •  70% of gross plus 100% of all fuel surcharges
  • 100% weekend delivery pay if billed
  • 8,000 to 10,000 miles per month
  • Lumper/unloading reimbursements
  • All company trailer expenses reimbursed
  • Drop trailer at many locations
  • No escrow held – 2-week hold on pay
  • Company discounts on fuel purchases ($.40/gal average this year)
  • OCC/ACC = $145 (mandatory unless you carry Workers’ Comp and provide proof)
  • License plates and permits are furnished by Classic Carriers (weekly payment at rate of Ohio plates if you have your own)
  • Liability and bobtail insurance available at group discount
  • Detention after 2 hours (80% if Classic can collect)
  • Quarterly Safety Bonus $0.02 per dispatched mile driven safely (if qualify)
  • Optional Satellite TV in truck ($62.50 monthly, which includes TV, DVR, dish and remote)
  • Driver lounge with shower, free laundry facilities, kitchen, cable TV and recliners
  • Rider policy after 90 days (only immediate family and age 14+)
  • Company trailers outfitted with aerodynamics to improve fuel efficiency by 0.2 to 0.4 MPG
  • EFS fuel card (owner-operator keeps 100% of fuel discounts)
  • Our shop can provide a full range of repair and maintenance services at significant savings
